Letters of the Wordsworth Family from 1787 to 1855

In this collection of the Wordsworth family’s letters, edited by pioneering scholar William Angus Knight, Dorothy boasts of her ability to walk sixteen miles in four hours without breaking a sweat. Dorothy was a female mountaineer worthy of recognition in both her day and ours. Dorothy’s relationship with her brother was so close, which isn’t always common between siblings. Her independence is strikingly refreshing for the time and insight to her life helps audiences realize how much of William’s poetry came from Dorothy’s observations and inspiration. The siblings bonded over their love of nature and these letters show that love of nature.
